Who could ever notice
just one more ray of light
on a sunny August day,
with the wind bending stalks of grain
as if to test their mettle for the impending harvest.
But it was a ray of sunshine
beaming through a prism,
that suffused my world with colours,
illumining and awakening.
I cried when you first cried.
Knowing no better,
I sang to you that sunny summer day
as I carried you around, announcing to the world
that Hope and Promise
were once again made manifest.
Now the circle has widened,
and that same ray refracts and floods new spaces
with Hope and Promise anew.
The seeds have been sown
and the harvest will once again fill the granaries.
