The blind men and the elephant

elephant and blind men

John Godfrey Saxe I (June 2, 1816 – March 31, 1887) was an American poet known for his re-telling of the Indian parable “The Blind Men and the Elephant”, which introduced the story to a western audience (as per Wikipedia).

The most salient part of the poem is thus:

And so these men of Indostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!

Hmmmm. Wonder if we can learn anything from that…
